A beautiful necklace of irregularly shaped Tahitian pearls, with a natural green grey colour, on a looped sterling silver chain will add contemporary style to any occasion.

Tahitian pearls are typically darker in colour, being cultured in oysters in the warm ocean waters of French Polynesia. These grey pearls shine beautifully, with colour overtones of green and pink.

The pearls are 8-10mm in diameter. They have a baroque shape, which means that they have a noticeably irregular appearance, with some minor imperfections and characterful circles present on the surface of each pearl.

This baroque shape is quite normal, particularly with cultured Tahitian pearls, and adds to the charm and individuality of the necklace.

Each unique necklace is finished with an endless 110cm long sterling silver chain, which has been rhodium plated for a more lasting shine.

Akoya pearls are cultured in saltwater oysters, mostly in Japan, and are loved for their white colour, pink overtone and sharp lustre.

Freshwater pearls are cultured in mussels in China, in colours of white or pastel pink, peach or lavender and in a variety of shapes.

South Sea pearls are saltwater pearls, with a silky lustre, that are cultured in Australia, the Philippines and Indonesia.

Tahitian pearls are saltwater pearls from French Polynesia, with exotic dark colours that often display overtones of pink, purple and green.

Pearl Size 8-10mm

A round pearl is measured across its diameter in millimetres.

For non-spherical, baroque and other shapes of pearls, both the length and width of the pearl is measured.

The most popular Akoya and Freshwater pearl sizes for earrings and necklaces are between 7 and 9mm in diameter.

South Sea and Tahitian pearls are typically worn between 9 and 11mm in diameter, or larger for more statement pieces.
